This encounter on a spring trip to Bulgaria was particularly memorable as these fantastic birds zoomed around my head and flew past where I was sat, so close that I could have reached out and touched them. I found it impossible to photograph them in flight, and so crossed my fingers that one might land within range. I'm pleased to say I got lucky!
