Little Bittern
Little Bittern Ixobrychus minutus
Rickmansworth, Herts
#3295
Little Bitterns are tiny, no bigger than a Moorhen. This bird, a female, turned up in the most unlikely setting of Rickmansworth in north-west London. It kept its distance from the masses by staying on the far side of the river Colne, whilst its many admirers were stuck on the footpath on the other side. Happily the Colne is not the Amazon!
