This is my one and only photo of Variable Wheatear, a bird we discovered on an abandoned building close to a main road in the Emirates. It was not at all friendly, and all attempts to creep up on it were a failure in the time we gave it. I really do need to go back to the UAE solely to concentrrate on wintering Wheatears.
